Best of Mariner

June 4th, 2007 by brian2011

The best time time I had in mariner was the field trip to NYC. We had so much fun. I got to go to the city. I have never been to the city so I had fun. The best part was when we where walking around the city. The museum was every dumb. No class will probably go to NYC again. For me that was probably a once in a lifetime thing. I like the city with the buildings but I hate the people.

Another good best of mariner was my sixth grade year. I knew everyone by their first name. That was a lot of fun. I don’t remember any fights that was cool.

Those where my good memories of mariner I also have some bad. But I will forget that in the future.

Mark Twain: The American Classic Man

Mark Twain was the first American writer to entertain and amaze his readers. Do you know who wrote Huckleberry Finn and The Adventure of Tom Sayuer?  Mark Twain is a man who wrote many American Classics. That’s all most people know.  So how about you read this paper to learn more than what most people know.

Mark Twain was born on November 30, 1835. He died on April 21, 1910. His real name was Samuel Clemens. He was born in Florida. He died in Ohio. As a kid his family moved a lot.

A lot of people say he was a very funny man. He had many jobs while he was alive. At one time he was working as a print press. The one that made him most famous was writing. He got an honorary doctorate at Oxford.

As an adult he had many accomplishments. The most important to him was his three daughters and wife, Olivia. He wrote a total of 45 books. He had 10 big books that are still being printed today. The most sold copies were 25,000 but that was while he was alive. The book was Tramp Aboroad.

Two big books that most people know him from are Huckleberry Finn and Tom Sayuer. Those two books are the ones I have read I think that they are the best books that I have read.

Mark Twain was the first American writer to entertain and amaze his readers. He wrote American classics too. The man was in debt more than 100,000 dollars at one time and came out. All in all the man had a good life. Before you go did you know that mark twain was an old sailor code that meant two feet under?

The Hideout

By: Paul Hutchens

Brian - Core 3

The book was about a boy named Jeremy was ridding a train when it crashed. Jeremy did not want to be around all the dead people. Then he ran. He ran through the woods then he found a hunting cabin. He went in the cabin and that was going to be his home. He knew there had to be a town near by so he started to walk. finally found a town and remembers that his grandfather gave him 50 dollars. He bought food and a newspaper.  On his way out he ran into a girl but kept going back to camp. A few days later he saw the same girl and they started to talk. He never said anything about the train crash. He stayed in the cabin for weeks. One night a bear came up to the cabin. But when he went to the store again he saw the girl. They became better friends each time. Then one time he went to her house by then he had told her. Hunters came to the cabin. It was not hunting season yet. He let them go until they shot something. So they where poachers. He could do nothing but tell. I have to stop here because you told me not to tell the end

The part of the book that touched me the most was Jeremy’s braveness and his courage. He did not even think of what could have happened he just did it. I try to be like it but I always think of what might happen.

The lesson I learned  from this book was don’t be scared of anything if Jeremy was scared he probably been hurt or dying of starvation. He ran and lived. He made a friend who took care of him and helped him. This book helped me so much I could not thank Paul Hutchens enough.

Out of all the books I have ever read in my life this one has been my favorite of them all. I do not know why I just liked this one a lot. I got a real good mental picture in my head that is probably why.
